VILLAGERS are set to take on the Sport Relief Mile challenge in Barnt Green.

The event, which will be held on Sunday, March 23, will see hundreds of residents starting from Millennium Park before running or walking in aid of the annual charity cause.

People can choose a one mile route round the village or a three and six mile route around the village and off-road past the Bittell Reservoirs.

Barnt Green Chuggers will once again be volunteering and helping at the event.

Mike Dickenson, chairman of the walking and jogging club, said: “The club positively encourages those wanting to jog, run, get fit and enjoy the company of others doing the same. The Sport Relief Mile is a great way for people to have a go and raise money for good causes.”

Parish councillor, Charles Hotham, added: “In 2012, the Barnt Green Mile had more than 200 participants and raised well over £5,000. This year we want even more of you to get involved. There will be something for everyone on what looks set to be a great day, so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too and get training. Dressing up for the occasion is positively encouraged.”

Entry costs £6 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for a family of two adults and two children.

Start times run from noon onwards. For more information visit sportrelief.com
