HELP is on hand for people with failing eyesight in Redditch and Barnt Green, with a meeting of the Macular Society’s Barnt Green and Redditch Support Group on Friday, February 28 at the Friends Meeting House in Barnt Green from 2-4pm.

The group meets on the last Friday of every month, and anyone who has difficulty getting to the meetings can arrange transport through the Bromsgrove Urban and Rural Transport system (BURT) or by calling Dial a Ride on 01527 64910 or 01527 879290 and asking for Home Support.

Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings, and bring a friend along if they wish.

The group’s speaker last month was Steve Topman from the ACME Whistle Factory in Birmingham.

The Macular Society has been operating for the last 25 years, supporting people with macular conditions which affect the central part of the retina and cause loss of central vision, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The society offers information and support, as well as funding research to find a cure.
