WITH the winter Olympics well underway in Sochi, Rubery youngsters have been getting into the Olympic spirit with some sporty activities of their own.

Toddlers from Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-School tried out a whole range of wintery and Olympic themed play activities including making their own skates to have a go at skating, trying out hoola hoops in the colours of the Olympic rings, having a go at relay races, sledging and curling, and making edible Olympic torches using ice cream cones, popcorn and red, orange and yellow icing.

Parents of the children had the opportunity to spend the morning in the nursery making winter sparkle pictures, playing with Arctic animals and igloos in pretend snow, and shaping winter pictures out of dough.

Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-School manager, Jacqueline Walker, said: “The main idea of our theme on the winter Olympics was to increase the children’s interest in sport and develop their physical skills though new activities. It was a lovely occasion which gave the parents the opportunity of experiencing what it is like in nursery for their children, the children are always very proud to show their parents around the nursery.”
