A SPECIAL coffee morning has been held in Bromsgrove to support an event designed to get people talking about mental health.

RedSwan Psychological Consultancy has been supporting Time to Change, the mental health anti-stigma programme run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.

The first Time to Talk Day  was held on Thursday, February 6, and RedSwan showed its support by holding the coffee morning at the Wishing Well complementary clinic, in St John Street.

Leanne Ling, RedSwan's managing director, said: “Like many people I experienced my own mental health problems such as anxiety and depression for many years.

"However, as a society we are too afraid to talk about the subject and I really wanted the people of Bromsgrove to get involved with Time to Talk Day, to find out more about mental health, how to access help and challenge the stigma.”

Sue Baker, from Time to Change, said: “Mental health problems affect one in four of us and yet many people suffer in silence.

"We know that just a few small words can sometimes make the biggest difference, whether that’s over a cup of tea and a chat or a text message from someone asking how you are."
