CASH was stolen during a robbery at a convenience store in Barnt Green.

The incident happened at the Tesco Express in Hewell Road, just after 9pm yesterday, (March 10).

Three men with their faces covered by tights entered the store.

Two of the men approached the assistant who was cashing up at self service tills. They demanded money and threatened to shoot her, although no weapons were seen, A quantity of cash was taken out of her hand, and the pair ran out of the store.

The third man took a member of staff upstairs to where another member of staff was working. He asked them to open the safe, but they were unable to do so.

He came back downstairs with a bag of coins, which he threw on the floor, then escaped.

The men left in the direction of Sandhills Road, where they got into a red Skoda Fabia, registration X556 FEH.

One was about 5ft 8ins, slim, and was wearing a Superdry-style waist-length black jacket, and black trousers.

The second man was about 5ft and appeared to be stockier. He was wearing a black bomber style jacket with elasticated waist and cuffs, possibly made of a shiny material, black trousers and black woolly gloves which had a red Spiderman patch on the back.

The third offender was also dressed all in black, and possibly had curly or bushy hair.

Detective Sergeant Steve Cook of West Mercia Police said: “The three female assistants were not injured, although they were extremely shaken.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or who saw the vehicle in the area, or knows where it is now.”
