TWO carers have been cleared on a charge of failing in their duty to look after an elderly man in a Bromsgrove care home.
Gail Broadway and Maxine Turbill were initially convicted after a seven day trial at Worcester Crown Court in July 2012 for an alleged lack of care for an 85-year-old man at the Breme Residential Care Home in Providence Road, Sidemoor.
Broadway, aged 40, of Lyttleton Avenue, and Turbill, 48, of Grayshott Close, immediately went to the Court of Appeal and won. Their jail sentences were quashed.
A retrial was ordered, which took place at Worcester last week, when a second jury brought in unanimous not guilty verdicts on the charge of wilful neglect, and they were discharged.
