Bromsgrove woman denies three offences of fraud
Updated 1:22pm Monday 7th April 2014 in News
A BROMSGROVE woman denied three offences of fraud when she appeared in court charged with dishonestly obtaining refunds totalling thousands of pounds.
Ruby Baines, formerly known as Nina Tiara and Nina Dalman, aged 44, of Woodcote Green Farm, Woodcote Lane, is alleged to have gained refunds from Debenhams and Marks & Spencer for goods which she claimed had not been delivered, and then returned the items in store for a second refund.
Following a five month investigation by West Mercia Police, Baines was brought before Redditch Magistrates on April 1, charged with three counts of fraud, two of which were against Marks & Spencer and the other against Debenhams.
The charges state that in order to make financial gain she made false representations to the stores to the effect that goods she had ordered had not been received and therefore she was entitled to a refund.
The offences are alleged to have been committed between August 2009 and April 2013.
Baines pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was released on bail to appear before Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, July 22, this year.
