A NEW DIY store has opened its doors in Bromsgrove.

The new Homebase store opened at the recently launched Brook Retail Park, off Sherwood Road, on Friday, (April 4).

Children from several local schools attended the event and cut the ribbon to mark its opening.

The store has brought 36 new jobs for residents in the area.

The new branch of the national DIY chain features touch screen technology to help customers transform the look of rooms in their homes, while City and Guilds trained decorating consultants can help visitors create personalised mood boards.

The store also features a building zone, a plant zone, and a Grow Your Own zone for those wanting to produce their own fruit and vegetables.

Paul Loft, Homebase's managing director, said: “Investment in our stores and use of technology is a vital part of our long term plan to offer a customer experience that can’t be found anywhere else.

“We’re also committed to the on-going development of customer service and colleague training, which is a key part of the new store format and a major part of Homebase’s development.”
