THE proposed transformation of Bromsgrove's former market hall site has moved a step closer.
The site between Hanover Street, St John Street and Market Place, including George House, is earmarked to become a cinema with high quality retail and restaurant units.
The matter went before Bromsgrove District Council's cabinet on March 27, but was deferred for officers to check projected car park income.
On Monday, (April 7), cabinet members again discussed the proposals and agreed to officers recommendations.
Councillors approved the granting of a 250 year lease of the land to developers Opus Land, and agreed the site's 135-space car park should continue to remain in the authority's ownership.
The council is still yet to name the anchor tenant for the site. This is likely to become public when a planning application is submitted.
