INTRUDERS set fire to a boarded up former social club in Bromsgrove on Wednesday, April 9.

The former DDS and S Club, which has been fenced off and boarded up following the social club's closure several years ago, was entered at around noon on Wednesday, April 9.

A fire was lit inside, causing damage to the entrance door, furniture and the ceiling.

Police were alerted by the fire service, which was called to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Inspector Sarah Corteen said: “This is being investigated as arson and happened in broad daylight so there is a chance whoever did this was seen either going onto the site or leaving quickly.

“If you saw anything or know who was responsible please contact our officers at Bromsgrove Police Station.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 253-S-090414.
