A BROMSGROVE hotel has chosen to support a national charity with town headquarters for the second year in a row.

The Hilton Hotel in Birmingham Road first adopted the Stroke Association as its charity of the year in 2013.

More than £3,000 was raised and on Thursday, (April 10), representatives from the hotel visited the charity's Life After Stroke Centre, in Church Road, to present the cheque.

The money was raised through various fundraising activities. These included raffles, bonus ball competitions, a chocolate hamper raffle and filling tubes with 20p coins.

The charity also organised the Around the World event where staff cycled, swam and completed miles on the cross trainer for sponsorship.

It was also announced the hotel had chosen the Stroke Association as its charity of the year, for another year.

Michael Squire, the general manager of The Hilton Hotel, said: "We are proud to support the Stroke Association.

"We work closely with the association to raise vital funds for the centre, and look forward to continuing to support them.

"At the moment we’re in the process of organising cookery lessons for stroke survivors and their carers, and excited to hold our main event Around the World in a Day in June.”

Claire Benfield, the Stroke Association's regional fundraising manager, added: “We are thrilled to be supported by Hilton Bromsgrove for the second year in a row.

"The impact of stroke can be devastating for stroke survivors and their families, so we are really thankful for the Hilton’s support to the charity.”
