THE Primrose Hospice is seeing business bloom after opening a new fundraising facility.

The Bromsgrove-based care centre recently launched a furniture shop and donation centre in Redditch with help from property agents John Truslove.

Helen Garfield, hospice chief executive, said: “It is still early days but it has started well. We are pleased with the local support and initial sales.

“The more money we can raise the more work we can do and the more people we can help. So I would urge the public to even greater feats of generosity.”

The centre, at 189 Evesham Road, Headless Cross, accepts all donations of goods including clothes, books, bric-a-brac, furniture, electrical items, and much more besides. A collection service is available for large items or house clearances – telephone the shop on 01527 401416 for more information.

And for those looking to purchase there is plenty of opportunity to pick up a bargain.

John Truslove partner Ben Truslove said: “It is a wonderful cause and does fantastic work for those with life limiting illnesses and their families.

“It is quite humbling and I am so glad we were able to help.”

The charity has taken 3,885 sq ft on a five year lease – sorting takes place to the rear of the premises.

Primrose Hospice is an independent charity, supporting patients in Bromsgrove, Redditch, and surrounding areas.

Based at St Godwalds Road, the hospice is open five days a week. It also contributes to palliative care for in-patients at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove – known as “Primrose at the Princess” – in partnership with Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.

Ms Garfield said: “The hospice could not function without our dedicated team of volunteers many of whom work in our shops.

”We rely on donations and fundraising events by individuals and businesses in order to maintain and develop our high standards of care.”
