BROMSGROVE police are investigating two attempted burglaries in the town.

One happened in King Edward Road, Sidemoor, between 8.45am on Monday, (April 21), and 10.30am the following day.

Access was gained to the rear of the property through a wooden fence and gate at the side. The offenders tried to lever open a wooden window frame on the ground floor, and also attempted to break in through a rear door.

The other incident happened in Redditch Road, Stoke Heath, at around midnight on Tuesday, (April 22).

Offenders got into the property's rear garden using an insecure gate, and tried to force two windows and the door. After failing they then went to the front door and tried to force that, before being disturbed by the occupants putting on the light.

Detective Constable Paul Lettis at West Mercia Police said: “Luckily both of these attempted burglaries were unsuccessful, but they demonstrate the importance of preventing access being gained to the rear of a property where possible.

“As well as securing side gates, other steps could include planting prickly shrubs along boundaries and ensuring sheds are kept secure to prevent burglars using a householder’s own tools to break in.”

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call non-emergency number 101.

Callers for the Sidemoor burglary should ask for DC Lettis and quote incident 140-s-240414, or for the Stoke Heath burglary ask for DC Tony Flannagan, quoting 208-s-230414 .
