VISITORS are invited to be a part of a centuries’ old rural tradition by celebrating the arrival of spring at Avoncroft Museum’s special May Day event.
The celebrations, taking place on Monday, May 5 from 10.30am, will herald the beginning of spring and include maypole dancing and traditional games.
There will be also be the chance for visitors to try their hand at archery, take a ride on Avoncroft’s popular miniature train, enjoy traditional fairground attractions or meet new furry and prickly friends with Animal Mania and Hedgehog Rescue.
Less energetic visitors are welcome to browse the stalls at the craft fair, sit back and relax with a picnic or try the museum's award-winning Edwardian Tea Room.
For those interested in the Midlands’ industrial heritage, there will be demonstrations of chain-making in the 19th century chain shop rescued from Cradley in the Black Country and Avoncroft’s specially trained volunteers will be preparing and sailing the windmill.
Admission is £8.80 for adults, £7.70 for seniors and £4.50 for children. Avoncroft Museum members are allowed in free of charge.
