BROMSGROVE residents are being given the chance to hail the ale at an annual beer festival next month.

Real ale lovers are being invited to the popular Bromsgrove Beer and Cider Festival, being held over the weekend running from Thursday, June 26, to Saturday, June 28.

The three-day festival opens to the public on the second day, Friday, June 27, with the first day of the festival for CAMRA members only - although organisers say non members wishing to join are welcome.

The festival is open 6 to 11pm on Thursday, noon to 11pm on Friday, and 11am to 9pm on Saturday.

There will be 120 different beers and 50 ciders and perries available for visitors to taste, being served in half pint and third measures.

The event, being held at Bromsgrove Rugby Club, in Finstall Park, features the West Midlands Region Bitter of the Year competition.

On Saturday afternoon, entertainment will be provided by the Blackwell Concert Band.

Every year a charity is supported by the festival, and this year organisers have chosen Worcestershire Wildlife Trust - selected as it supports a number of nature reserves in the Bromsgrove area.

There will also be a wide range of food available, and a separate bar serving other drinks.

Admission costs £5, which includes a programme and a deposit for a commemorative glass. There is also a discount for card carrying CAMRA members.

Camping is available at the rugby club, for a £10 per night charge.
