THOUSANDS of Bromsgrove residents took part in a successful fundraiser for a town charity.

The Forget Me Not walk, challenging participants to do a one, three, five, eight or 12-mile walk, was held on Sunday, (June 8).

The event was first held in 2008, organised by Stoke Heath fundraiser Nicole Harris to raise money for the Bromsgrove branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

There were 186 participants in the latest event, including a number of children.

Walks started and finished at Sanders Park with children collecting a medal for finishing.

An impressive £8,000 was raised for the charity, which will be added to the thousands already raised during the annual fun run held earlier this year.

Nicole said: "We had a fantastic day.

"I would like to thank everyone who took part and helped on the day, and to the generosity of the Bromsgrove public - who are so supportive and have helped us to raise this fantastic figure.

"We are now getting closer to our target - £1 million."
