A LOCAL filmmaker is hoping to find people willing to help support a short film, which is being filmed on location in Hanbury Woods to raise money for a Droitwich charity.

Calum Rhys, who was raised in Worcestershire, is attempting to write and direct a short film set in France during World War Two called ‘Our Father’.

The production is being filmed on locations around the county including Hanbury woods, Malcvern, and Croome Court in Pershore, and Mr Rhys is hoping to find back from local residents for the project.

The film which Mr Rhys describes as ‘gritty and intense’ starts off in Worcestershire in 1925, telling the story of Cole, a private in the British army, and the connection he has with the other men in his squad as they encounters the horrors of the war.

He said: “The initial concept of 'Our Father' was conceived in early 2013, however it wasn't until January of this year that we actually began the full pre-production stage, since then we've been able to acquire a full cast and crew and industry-standard equipment to ensure this film can look as professional as possible. We have an array of talent from all over the country, many of whom are hailing from within the county itself, as well as actors who have worked with both BBC and Channel 4, one of whom has acted in Channel 4's 'Shameless'.”

The film is currently attempting to raise funds to help with production costs with an online campaign, and funders can receive perks depending on how much they give to the production, ranging from signed posters to tickets to the film’s premiere screening.

Mr Rhys added: “We've been running a fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo and are now just really looking for anyone who is willing to help us out, and in return we have a number of gifts available as a sign of our appreciation.”

‘Our Father’ is also supporting Droitwich-based charity Spectrum Days, which helps people with learning difficulties, and Mr Rhys has plans to release it internationally.
