A BROMSGROVE author who followed her dreams is encouraging readers to follow theirs in her third novel which is published this week.

Sue Watson’s new novel ‘Love, Lies and Lemon Cake’ is being published as the first in a three book deal the author has agreed with publisher Bookouture, and tell the bittersweet story of Faye, who releases that she isn’t achieving any of her dreams.

Ms Watson said: “So many people live lives they have grown out of and yet stay in the wrong job, the wrong marriage and the wrong life.

“I wanted to write about a real woman, with real problems, who overcomes the banality of her life to get out there and chase those crazy dreams. I wanted a heroine every woman could relate to - any one of us can do what Faye, the heroine does. You just have to believe in yourself.”

Faye, the central character in the book makes a ‘living list’ full of all the things she’d like to do, and Ms Watson is hoping her readers will do the same, and share how they are achieving their dream through Twitter or Facebook.

Ms Watson had been working as a journalist until her first book ‘Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes’ was published in 2011 and became a best-seller. She made her decision her when one day her daughter Eve, then aged 6, was sent home from school with suspected meningitis and she and her husband went through what they described as the worst week of their lives.

She added: “I believe in fate – and I also believe you must follow your heart and your dream. Today I have a healthy, happy teenage daughter, a happy marriage, and now a career as a best-selling author, which all started after the worst week of my life.”

‘Love Lies and Lemon Cake’ will be available to buy from Amazon from June 27.
