YOUNGSTERS from Bromsgrove School recently swapped the classroom for a construction site.
A team from construction company Stepnell took the five-year-olds, all pupils at the school’s pre-preparatory school, on a tour of the £3 million residential accommodation development which the company is creating for sixth-formers at the independent day and boarding school.
During the day pupils were given a talk about safety and the importance of never playing on building sites.
They also took part in a safety-themed competition painting pictures which will go on show on hoardings around the construction project.
Bromsgrove School reception teacher Clare Dunlop said: "Stepnell made the visit fun and informative for our youngest pupils, they understood the safety messages and really enjoyed wearing the hi-vis vests.”
The event was organised through Stepnell’s membership of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, a national initiative which encourages best practice in the construction industry
The new sixth-form residential accommodation is due to be completed by the end of August 2014.
