MORE than 100 people turned out at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove recently for a performance of ‘the Scottish play’.

The production of ‘Macbeth’ was staged by professional company the Festival Players, and was organised by the Friends of St John’s Committee as a fundraising event to kick off the Bromsgrove Festival.

Friends chairman Jo Slade, said: “We were thrilled to see so many people at the event. The actors were first class and it was truly wonderful to see the beautiful building used for such an occasion. The Friends of St John’s are keen to reach out to a non-secular audience to raise funds to keep the building in use for everyone. We hope to invite the Festival Players back for another play next year.”

The event raised £450 for the Friends of St John’s fund, which is used for the maintenance and ongoing restoration projects at the church.
