A FORMER member of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society is now singing a completely different tune.

For Jan Sprenger, who writes under the name of Rosie Dean, is one of ten authors chosen for a year-long promotional campaign after the publication of her second romantic novel Vicki's Work of Art.

Ms Sprenger, who now lives in Hampshire, was a WoDS regular in the 1980s and 90s, when she designed kitchens. She later left the area to teach art and pottery on the Isle of Wight.

Her first novel Millie's Game Plan hit the bookshelves in February and now her follow-up has caught the attention of Hit Lit Pro, which has contracted the book promotion company Candlelit Author Services, to champion its authors with a year-long promotional campaign. There will also be a competition beginning July 1 with a whole list of prizes and news.

Ms Sprenger explained: "Vicki’s Work of Heart follows Vicki Marchant, humble art teacher and jilted bride, as she seizes her freedom by leaving teaching to paint in France. It’s her time. Nobody is going to get in the way of her ambition, definitely not a man. Vicki learns two things: some men are difficult to resist, and choosing the right one is not always easy. She’s in France to paint ,but can she resist l’amour?"

The author's work is also published by Harlequin in its anthology Truly, Madly, Deeply.
