Town businesses swing into action for charity golf day
1:20pm Tuesday 1st July 2014 in News
BUSINESSES across Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch are being urged to swing into action for a charity golf day this autumn.
The Stroke Association, which has its headquarters in Bromsgrove, is holding the event at Worcestershire Golf Club, in Malvern, on September 15.
The entrance fee is £320 for a team of four which includes refreshments. The fee pays for a fee to play the course, followed by a three course dinner and a prize presentation.
A donation from the fee will also go to the charity, which supports stroke survivors, families and carers.
The teams will tee off at 1.15pm, and the event offers the opportunity to network with other local businesses on the day.
Lord Digby Jones will be in attendance, making an after dinner speech.
He said: "I am thrilled to be able to support the Stroke Association by volunteering my time to speak at their charity golf day dinner and prize giving and am looking forward to meeting with lots of local business people during the evening.
"It should be a great night for a fantastic cause."
Sophie James, the association's community and events fundraising manager said: "At the Stroke Association we believe in life after stroke. That’s why we support stroke survivors to make the best recovery they can and why we campaign for better stroke care.
"All funds raised at our golf day will support this vital work including supporting those affected by stroke in Worcestershire and across the West Midlands.”
