TOWN MP Sajid Javid has become an honorary lifetime member of Bromsgrove and District Amateur Radio Club.
The newly elected Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, visited the radio station to meet its members last month.
Mr Javid was presented with a certificate of membership from the club chairman Berrie Palin.
Mr Palin said: “I am grateful that Mr Javid was able to spend a fair amount of time with us and we enjoyed telling him about the progress being made by the radio club and the way we hope to be improving the club.”
Mr Javid said that he was keen to attend the club's next special event to commemorate the First World War, where the club will be broadcasting the call sign GB1WWO.
The station is operated from the Club Shack located in the grounds of Avoncroft Arts Centre, part of the Avoncroft Museums buildings.
