A SUMMER fete has raised more than £8,000 to fund a climbing wall at a school in Hagley.

The event at Hagley Catholic High School on Saturday made a huge dent in the £15,000 needed to see the project through.

Students at the Brake Lane school will reach dizzying new heights with the wall, which would be available to the wider community at evenings and weekends.

Former Wolves captain Jody Craddock opened the fete, alongside headteacher Ted Hammond before visitors were invited to enjoy an array of activities.

Organisers, The Friends of Hagley, wished to thank those who supported the event and joint chairman, David Teboul, added: "In spite of the weather the crowds came and judging by the laughter and smiling faces everywhere, everyone has had a really good old fashioned day out."
