SERVICES in Worcestershire are expected to be disrupted today with some workers set to walk out in a dispute over pensions, pay and working conditions.

Teachers, civil servants and some care workers are among those who could walk out in the biggest industril action seen in years.

Worcestershire County Council says it is expecting some disruption.

Currently, a number of services are being affected by the strike action, including schools and the fire servcie.

In Bromsgrove Aston Fields Middle, Catshill Middle and Fairfield First schools will be closed for the day, while North Bromsgrove High School will only be open to sixth formers.

Chadsgrove School and Specialist Sports College, Rigby Hall School, and Westacre Middle School in Droitwich, will be partially closed.

While in Redditch Pitcheroak School will be closed for the day, while Crown Meadow First, Holyoakes Field First, Ridgeway Middle, and Trinity High schools will be partially closed.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) are also taking part in the walkout - the latest in a long series of strikes.

The Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will be operating a reduced service between 10am and 7pm.

Unions involved include the Public and Commercial Services union and council and school support workers in the GMB and Unison.

Among the council workers striking will be carers, social workers, refuse collectors, street cleaners and teaching assistants.
