THE next meeting of the Midlands branch of the National Vegetable Society (NVS) is being held later this month.

The West Midlands District Association of the NVS is holding the meeting at Fairfield Village Hall, in Stourbridge Road, on Thursday, August 28.

The speaker for the meeting will be David Thornton. David has been a member for more than 20 years, is a trustee of the society, and for the past 10 held the position of honourable secretary.

He is also a silver and gold medal holder, and a qualified show judge for the NVS.

During his talk, David will be attempting to unravel the mysteries surrounding the use of different fertilisers.

Members will be available before and after the talk to offer advice and ideas on growing vegetables, and any other specific questions anyone may like to ask.

Non members are welcome to attend, and there will be the opportunity to become a member if they wish.

For non members there is a £3 admission fee, though this includes tea and coffee and biscuits.
