A TEN-year-old from Bromsgrove has organised a jumble sale in aid of the Primrose Hospice.

Aleksandra Franks is raising money for the independent North Worcestershire charity which helps people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

In June, she contacted Bromsgrove District Council to find out if she needed permission to run the event.

The Aston Fields Middle school pupil was told that there are no regulations or licences needed and that she could go ahead with her charity fundraiser.

Aleksandra has arranged the event almost single handily, she is making loom band Bracelets to sell, designing posters to advertise the event and donating a lot of her own toys, teddies clothes and games.

The Bromsgrove Guide wrote to her neighbours to inform them of the fundraiser as she does not want them to be disturbed.

Aleksandra’s mum Carol Franks said: “I would love all of Aleks' hard work to pay off and get lots of people pop round and buy something and have a drink and a piece of homemade cake.

"She is one of those children who wants to help everyone and save the world.

"I am so proud of Aleks for doing this and spending her time doing something so worthwhile for her local community, she is, I feel, a positive and remarkable little girl.”

Aleksandra and her mum are looking for someone help out for a couple of hours by face painting or making balloon animals on the day.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 23 from 1 to 5pm at 98, Salwarpe Road, Charford.
