A Rubery DJ and producer performed at Leeds Festival after winning Relentless Energy’s ‘Here to be Heard 2014’ competition.

Luke Hussan, alongside the other contestants, took part in the competition by submitting a 10 Minute DJ mix and a video.

The public voted on the performances for which act they thought was the best.

Before the winner was announced the contestants visited London and each performed a half hour slot in Demark Street, where many music shops are situated.

The 24-year-old said: “I have been involved in music for most of my life, playing various instruments, the very first was the trumpet. My sole passion in life is creating and performing music that I have made and for others to enjoy it.

“It was quite a big shock I guess, definitely, it felt really good it is a very big opportunity. The vote was very close."

Luke was given an extra ticket to take someone with him to the festival. He gave it to his fellow contestant 'Dead Skull'.

Since taking to the stage, Luke has received messages from his friends praising his set.

Luke said: “The performance went really well, they were probably about 4,000 to 5,000 people there.

“I hope for more stuff with relentless they were really welcoming for a big company. It was quite daunting meeting them but they just made me feel really welcome.”

His performance, on Saturday, August 23, was supposed to take place before Zane Lowe, but DJ and producers Netsky and Wilkinson stepped in, after Lowe had to return home to New Zealand.
