A MOTORIST was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a man died in a road collision in Bromsgrove town centre.

The incident happened at 3.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, (August 25), at the junction where Stratford Road meets the High Street.

A vehicle, a Landrover Freelander, collided with a CCTV lamppost near The Queen's Head pub.

A man in his 60s, a front seat passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other rear passengers were uninjured.

The 44-year-old driver of the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

He is currently in custody.

Sergeant Lee Baker said: “Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the passenger, during this sad time.

"We will be continuing with our investigations and would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the Landrover prior to the incident to contact us.”
