BROMSGROVE residents can try their hand at some sports games as part of the High Street's opening.

The construction of the High Street began in February and was recently competed. It includes the street's resurfacing, new ornate lampposts and new street furniture.

The official opening took place last Saturday, and is now being followed by a series of themed events.

This Saturday, August 30, the theme for the day is sports and leisure.

There will be crazy golf, a speed football pod, mini tennis, and demonstration of martial arts from 10.30am to 4pm.

Councillor Mike Webb, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: "It was fantastic to see visitors getting involved with activities and enjoying the new High Street at the opening event.

"It will be even more brilliant to see the High Street getting busier and busier with each event as more people come to enjoy the activities on offer.”

Councillor Anthony Blagg, Worcestershire County councillor for Bromsgrove Central, added: "It was a great turnout on Saturday and fantastic to see the completed works as we know the regeneration of the town centre will help to boost business and bring people into the centre."

The following week's theme is food and drink. Anyone wishing to perform, exhibit or entertain crowds at any of the events is asked to email regeneration@bromsgrove.gov.uk.
