TOWNFOLK are being invited to a Bromsgrove church's open day and concert being held in September.

St John's Church in Kidderminster Road is holding the open day called St Johns @ Home on Saturday, September 13.

The event has proved successful in the past, with this year's theme being miracles.

It includes organ playing, the chance to learn about the history of the church and the chance to search church records, and the opportunity to climb the tower and ring the bells.

The event also includes a concert by the Moseley family.

Charlotte Moseley is a well known violin soloist, having given many recitals at St John’s in recent years.

She is joined by  her family Alastair, Cathy, Emily and Ben.

The concert, entitled Water into Wine, will last an hour starting at 7pm.

It will feature Handel’s Water Music, a selection of pieces reflecting water and the country including The Swan from Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, Sarasate’s show piece for the violin – Gypsy Airs, and a tango by Astor Piazzola.

Tickets are priced at £5, with accompanied children going free.

Donations, to help cover costs, will be welcomed.
