HAGLEY has secured £80,000 to spend on outdoor play equipment for teenagers.

Equipment will be sited at Hagley Playing Fields, Worcester Road and youths will be asked for ideas on what the money should be spent on.

Bromsgrove District Council has committed the cash from its section 106 fund, which contains money donated by developers as a condition of a grant of planning permission.

Chairman of Hagley Parish Council, Councillor Steve Colella said it was "fantastic news" for Hagley. He continued: "A formal consultation will start shortly whereby we’ll be arranging a youth workshop to identify types of equipment as well as seeking the views of the wider community.

"Although there may be skate ramps, I’d be keen that this offers a wide range of play equipment, which meets the needs of non-skate boarders too.

"I hope to hear from all groups who may have a particular type of equipment in mind."

County Councillor Rachel Jenkins added: "It’s great to be able to be in a position to provide something for the teenagers of Hagley at long last.

“If all goes to plan we aim to have something in place by late spring next year.”
