RESIDENTS at a Bromsgrove care home took a trip back to the roaring 20s for their latest themed party.

Staff at Breme Care Home organised a 1920s themed party on October 1.

Residents in Providence Road dressed in flapper dresses, stunning headpieces and feather boars galore for the party, which included mocktail making, making sweets, and dipping marshmallows in melted chocolate, covered in sprinkles.

The Charleston proving a big hit with staff and residents, led by 72-year-old Diana Taylor.

They also made banners and flags to celebrate women getting the vote and took a trip down memory lane with a memory box filled with nostalgic items donated by the Worcestershire County Museum.

The party was part of a week of nostalgic activities to mark International Day of Older Persons, where people across the country celebrate the achievements and contribution older people make to our society, challenging negative stereotypes and attitudes.

During the week residents also marked the anniversary of Rupert the Bear by making postcards, and visited Bromsgrove School for an afternoon of tea, cakes and old time music.

Activities leader Helen Barron said: “We had an absolutely fantastic week and our residents loved dressing the part and seeing us all make fools of ourselves attempting to do The Charleston.

“It was a week full of laughter and we all had great fun, especially making the sweets as we were all sticking to everything covered in chocolate.”
