A BROMSGROVE woman has landed her first professional stage role.

Sarah Workman, from Lickey End, is currently performing in Three Minute Heroes at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.

The talented 22-year-old completed her A levels at North Bromsgrove High School where she was encouraged to follow her dream and passion for drama - having acted since she was nine-years-old, performing regularly in Birmingham theatres including the Symphony Hall.

She managed to then gain a place on the Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance - one of only 15 students to be selected from the hundreds who applied for the course.

Sarah has just graduated from the international drama school, in London, with BA Hons in Actor Musicianship.

At the end of the three year course she applied for a part in the play, and learned the news before she graduated.

She said: "I was very lucky to gain the role before the end of my course.

"I've got an agent and with this I have got my foot in the door. Hopefully it will lead to other things."

The play has been inspired by Coventry's music scene, which took off in the late 1970s, early 1980s.

It tells the story of five local heroes and Sarah is one of the cast who forms a band and plays music from the era, including the sounds of The Selecter and The Specials.

Sarah plays drums and guitar in the production, as she is an accomplished musician who sings and plays instruments and is part of Bromsgrove band, Our Mutual Friend.

The show is being performed every night, running until October 25. Matinee performances are also being held on October 18, 22 and 25.
