A COMMUNITY afternoon tea held in a former Victorian public school building raised £1350 for Macmillan Cancer support.

Around 200 people attended the event at Hillscourt hotel and conference centre in Rosehill.

During the fundraiser, visitors could enjoy Pimms, cakes and tea or browse the various craft stalls which were donating a percentage of their profits back to the charity.

Matthew Baker, Hillscourt manager, said: “We’ve had a tremendous turn out and a lovely afternoon. A big thank you to all our guests and those who made the cakes including members of NASUWT and the Hillscourt chefs. We’re very pleased and proud to support Macmillan Cancer with their fund raising.”

The event was co-ordinated Hillscourt restaurant manager Debbie Feeney.

The building is owned by the teachers' trade union NASUWT and is regularly used by companies and the general public as a celebration venue.
