FINAL preparations are underway for a bonfire and music spectacular being held at a Bromsgrove park.

The event is taking place at Sanders Park off Kidderminster Road from 5pm this Saturday, November 1.

The popular annual event is hosted by Bromsgrove District Council and this year is again being supported by the Primrose Hospice, which supports people with life-limiting illness and their families.

After the bonfire is lit, there will be the traditional fireworks display to entertain the crowds.

This year's Guy Fawkes effigy being burnt has been created by pupils from Chadsgrove School in Catshill.

The council has secured U2 tribute act U2UK, who have performed across Europe including at U2 after show parties, to play at the event.

There will also be local performers on stage.

Bromsgrove District Councillor Mark Bullivant, who is responsible for leisure services, said: “Once again we’ve managed to set up an incredible line up of entertainment for the bonfire event with something for everyone.

"A share of the proceeds will be going to Primrose Hospice so grab an umbrella and some wellies and come down whatever the weather.

"It’s all for a good cause and guaranteed to be fun.”

Helen Garfield, Primrose Hospice chief executive, said: "We have worked closely with the district council on many occasions on all sorts of projects, and it is always a pleasure working with them.

"We would like to thank them for the support over the years and wish them every success for the forthcoming bonfire."

Admission to the event is £5 for adults, £3 for children, with youngsters aged two and under going in free.

A family ticket costs £14.

Tickets are available from the Primrose Hospice shops in Bromsgrove and Rubery high streets and the Customer Service Centre in School Drive.

Weather permitting tickets will also be on sale at stalls in Bromsgrove High Street from 11am until 3pm, on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets will also be available to buy, cash only, on the gate on the night.

• As in previous years Kidderminster Road will be closed to traffic from 5pm on the night, to ensure the safety of thousands of revellers expected to attend.
