A BROMSGROVE woman has had the chance to see her creations come to life at an awards event held in Birmingham.
Yasmeen Khalid was nominated for Young Designer of the Year at the Midlands Fashion Awards, held on October 24.
The awards, in their seventh year, were held at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Centre, and Yasmeen had the chance to see her designs modelled on the catwalk at the event.
The collection she showcased was called Cultural Colour, her inspirations coming from Pakistani Cargo trucks as part of her cultural heritage.
She has developed print into her designs, which use texture and colour to transform them.
Her collection consisted of culottes, high neck tops, jackets and big bouncy skirts.
Yasmeen said that although she did not win the award this year, she was pleased her collection "caused a lot of buzz and attention".
"I was absolutely delighted to have been selected as a finalist," she said.
"It feels like an achievement coming this far.
"I always wanted my designs to be in the spotlight and now they are, I cannot wait to get started on a new collection."
