A BROMSGROVE pianist and clarinettist will be performing with an orchestra at a event at a town venue.

Alastair Moseley will be performing Beethoven's 3rd piano concerto with the Redditch Orchestra at the Artrix Theatre, in School Drive, on Saturday, November 29.

Alastair is a solo pianist and clarinettist, and is the driving force behind the recently-established Orchestra of St John, in which he is the principal clarinet.

He is also celebrating 25 years’ service as principal clarinet of the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Redditch Orchestra is led by Cofton Hackett violinist, Graham Longfils, and will be directed for this concert by guest conductor Neil Aston, who is also the resident conductor of the Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berridge Singers.

The orchestra was established in 1948 to provide opportunities for local musicians to perform the great symphonies and other works from the classical repertoire.

Alastair gave his first performance of this Beethoven concerto with the orchestra in 1984, and says he is looking forward to performing it again with them 30 years on.

The programme also includes Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and a rarely heard orchestral gem, Mozartiana by Tchaikovsky, as well as ‘Sleepy Lagoon’ by Eric Coates which will be well known by BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs listeners.

Tickets cost £10, £8 for over 60s. Children go free.

Tickets are available on the door or in advance from the Artrix by visiting artrix.co.uk or calling the box office on 01527 577330.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.
