FUNDRAISING events took place throughout Bromsgrove in aid of the Children in Need appeal, on Friday, November 14.

People of all ages came together to raise money for the charity, which aims to make all children and young people in the UK feel safe, happy, secure and able to reach their potential.

This year’s Children in Need appeal raised a record breaking £32 million.

Staff at a Stoke Prior-based advertising agency, Superdream, raised more than £142 for the charity by dressing up as superheroes, face painting and holding a cake sale.

As part of the event colleagues embraced this year’s theme, Be a Hero and dressed as various characters including Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games, Spider-man, Mr and Mrs Incredible, Superman and Superwoman.

Jason Manning, managing director at Superdream, said: “It has been a great day and everyone has really got into the spirit of things to support Children in Need. In fact I think a few employees enjoyed being superheroes for the day a little too much.

At St Johns Court Nursing Home staff and residents enjoyed dressing up as nursery rhyme characters.

During the event, friends and family were invited to take part in a raffle and afternoon teas were served to raise money for the children’s charity.

Heather Mitchell, activities coordinator at St Johns Court Nursing Home, said: “Residents enjoyed going down memory lane reminiscing and singing nursery rhymes.”

So far, they have raised £50 but are still holding the raffle and hoping donations will continue.
