DRAGON’S Den star Theo Paphitis and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg took a break from their day jobs as they participated in Heart of Worcestershire College’s Shape Game at The Skills Show at Birmingham's NEC recently.

Modified and developed by the college’s Higher National Diploma students the Shape Game involved participants using their arms to hit coloured shapes that appeared on the screen with only movements from their hands, which were being picked up by the X-Box Kinect.

The game was modified by the college’s students especially for the Skills Show, to allow participants to take part in the game and then edit the code to make the shapes different colours or sizes.

Dragon’s Den’s Theo Paphitis stopped by on day one of the Skills Show to test the game out for himself and chat to the college’s staff and students.

James Duckhouse, the college's IT and computing curriculum leader, said: "The Skills Show stand was a great experience for us, especially for our students who saw the games they had developed being enjoyed by so many.

"It was fantastic that both Theo and Nick came to visit. They were both suitably impressed by the games, and the knowledge our students displayed.

"It was wonderful to see Theo getting stuck in and playing the game with some of the children, and then seeing how the game was put together by the students. It was an experience they will remember for some time.”
