FORMER Bromsgrove Advertiser journalist Michael Buerk has been the third person to be voted off I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

The 68-year-old journalist and broadcaster left the jungle-based reality show yesterday evening, (December 3).

The third public vote pitted him against Edwina Currie - a former teacher at Bromsgrove School - but it was the journalist who was ultimately voted off.

On leaving Mr Buerk said he was relieved but an "idiotic" part of him would like to have stayed.

Asked what he thought about his time on the show he said he thought "the regime was hard but the people were better."

The Solihull born newsreader also said that the lack of food had been hard to deal with, adding: "It's amazing how it alters your mood. People get down when they are hungry."

During the series he skydived into the jungle, was made "Bush Boss" for a day, and created a rap song with pop star Tinchy Stryder.

Mr Buerk, who began his career in journalism on the Advertiser then known as the Bromsgrove Messenger, was reportedly paid £150,000 for his appearance on the show.
