A SERVICE is being held at a Bromsgrove church to remember a former district councillor.

Brian Taylor died earlier this month.

Mr Taylor served as a district councillor for the Alvechurch Ward, from May 1999 until May 2003, and held the portfolio for leisure on the authority's cabinet from 2002 until 2003.

He was also a county councillor for the Barnt Green division between 1988 and 2005.

Mr Taylor was married to Margaret Taylor, who held every major role at Bromsgrove District Council and who died in 2012.

His son, Kit, has kept politics in the family as he is currently a county councillor for Bromsgrove East, and a district councillor for Linthurst.

The service, which is open to those wishing to pay their respects, is being held at St Peter's Catholic Church, in Rock Hill, from 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 27.

After the service, there will be a cremation at Stourbridge Crematorium from 4.10pm.
