A CHARFORD man has hit out at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) after being left with a broken boiler for three months.

Paul Schmabel, who lives in a BDHT property in Flavel Road, contacted the Advertiser as he was desperate for the boiler to be repaired.

The boiler first broke down at the end of November, and Paul alerted BDHT's management team.

Paul said: "They came out, as I wanted it fixed before Christmas.

"But the boilers BDHT use are absolutely no good for anything.

"For it still not to be fixed is frustrating.

"I have a blow heater they gave me, and I have got my own halogen heater, but it costs a lot of money to run.

"It is ridiculous not to have heating for three months."

Paul said as well as feeling the cold, the boiler being broken means he also struggles to get his washing to dry.

He added neighbours had also had similar problems with their boilers.

Mike Brown, BDHT's chief executive, said: “Historically, Government initiatives have meant we‘ve had to put different technology solutions into a very small amount of our properties.

"These have proven difficult to maintain and have led to a succession of problems in one particular development where the boilers need repairing and we have had to employ external specialists.

“We would like to apologise to Paul. We are working directly with him to rectify this as soon as possible.

"The delay has been unacceptable by our high standards. We have organised temporary heating and are working towards a quick resolution."
