A CARE home in Bromsgrove has thrown open its doors for a fundraising vintage themed tea party.

Breme Care Home in Providence Road organised the Time for a Cuppa tea party to welcome people into the home for the afternoon with staff dressing in vintage black and white waitresses outfits.

The event, which was organised to raise money for Dementia UK, featured china crockery and bunting, as well as a range of mouth-watering cakes which were on sale in offer for a donation to the charity.

The home’s activities leader Helen Barron, said: “The team and our residents love an excuse to dress up and support a good cause, so we thought a vintage theme for our Time for a Cuppa tea party would be perfect.”

Time for a Cuppa is Dementia UK’s annual fundraising event; raising money for the provision of Admiral nurses, specialist dementia nurses who provide care, advice and support to the loved ones of people living with dementia.

Amy Cudmore, community fundraiser at Dementia UK, added: “There are currently 140 Admiral nurses in the UK to support families living with the effects of dementia, which simply isn’t enough. Dementia UK is striving to increase the number of Admiral nurses by 50 per cent, by the end of 2016, to support the growing number of families affected by dementia.”
