A MOTORHOME in Stourport has been destroyed by fire but its occupant escaped unhurt.

The fire started around 11am today (Sunday) at Lickhill Manor Caravan Park.

The occupant escaped the blaze and no-one was injured it is believed an attempt to cook food was the cause of the fire.

Crews from Kidderminster and Stourport firr stations attended the scene.

Crew commander Paul Bailey, from Kidderminster fire station, said a gas canister inside the motorhome made the operation risky.

He said: "There was a gas canister inside which meant we had to stay at a distance of around 50 feet to keep our firefighters safe.

"We fought the fire defensively using local water supplies but unfortunately the motorhome could not be saved."

He added: "Although caravan sites are numerous around Stourport, thankfully fires in them are not."
