WALTER SMITH today called for cool heads as Rangers head into the week that will make or break their Treble dreams.

The Ibrox men lost control of the SPL title at the weekend after a damaging 1-1 draw at Motherwell.

That result left them three points and seven goals adrift of Celtic going into tonight's crucial clash against St Mirren at Love Street.

Smith knows victory is a must to draw level with Celtic at the top on 86 points and take the title to the Thursday shoot-out with Celtic facing Dundee United at Tannadice and Rangers taking on Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Despite a need for goals, Smith wants his side to keep their composure in Paisley and ensure they win.

Given that Rangers haven't scored more than three in the SPL since February, a glut would appear unlikely.

Smith said: "A bit of anxiety in our play has been evident throughout our season. We need more calmness, to slow down at times and be a bit more clinical.

"You could never say our team has ever showed anything other than 100% effort. But we have maybe lacked an extra bit of class when chasing games.

"We've tended to get caught up in games at times, and finding that composure is something we'll need to try to bring to the team next season.

"We have to go to Love Street tonight and win the game first and foremost to make sure it goes to the last day.

"Up until now we've had things in our own hands, now we don't, but we just need to win the last two games. We have worked very hard all season to give ourselves an opportunity to win the title, and we just need to keep going.

"It is a big ask to turn around the goal difference, but that will only come into it if neither team slips-up."

Rangers have beaten St Mirren 2-0 and 4-0 at Ibrox, but have yet to visit Love Street, this match outstanding since November when it was postponed for Scotland's the World Cup qualfier against Italy.

Rangers will be hampered by the suspension of Carlos Cuellar. Sasa Papac remains doubtful, but the manager is hopeful Kevin Thomson will return after missing Fir Park with a bug.
