A man from Cambridgeshire has been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault and grievous bodily harm on pupils at a boy's school in Hartlebury.

The offences were allegedly carried out when the man worked at St Gilbert's Catholic School, in Hartlebury, during the 1960s and 1970s.

The man, who can not be identified for legal reasons, has been bailed until June while investigations by West Mercia Police continue.

A convicted paedophile who carried out sex attacks on schoolgirls in Dudley and Stourbridge has been locked up for nine years.

Judge Amjad Nawaz at Wolverhampton Crown Court told Anthony Showell he would be on licence for a further four years and warned him he would only be allowed back into society when authorities felt he was safe.

He told the 58-year-old: “I am in no doubt you represent a real danger to young girls.”

A family member has confirmed that a man feared missing in Nepal is alive.

Richard Jones, 33, of College Green, Droitwich, had been included on a list compiled by the International Committee of the Red Cross of people missing in the country following Saturday's earthquake.

But a relative has said that he had been in touch and is ok.

Paralysed Halesowen teenager Grace Kalinski is being allowed home after spending a year in a rehabilitation spinal unit in Southport.

The 19-year-old is looking forward to returning to her Grange Road home for the first time since suffering a devastating bout of meningitis in February 2014, which left her without movement from the neck down.

After life-saving treatment at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley and Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the former Halesowen College student was taken to the spinal unit on May 4.

Around 15 friends from Redditch and Bromsgrove are set to take part in a gruelling 100 mile cycle challenge to raise vital funds for two hospitals specialising in the care of babies and children.

The group will travel from Cheshire to Redditch between Saturday, May 23 and Sunday May 24, with all money raised through sponsership being donated to Birmingham Children's Hospital's neurology and neurosurgery department and the foetal medicine department at Birmingham Women's Hospital.

A dark comedy set in the world of underground crime is set to be filmed around the streets of Stourbridge.

Enrichment, the current project of teenage filmmaker Max Tobin, will feature scenes of crime, violence and drug abuse.

Max, 17, is now starting pre-production on the film after raising more than £1,400 on the crowd funding website Kickstarter – a site where people can financially support local and international projects in return for personal rewards.

Staff and pupils at a Bromsgrove school have been celebrating after receiving another 'good' rating following its latest inspection.

Ofsted inspectors visited Fairfield First School on March 11 and 12.

Inspectors observed lessons at the Stourbridge Road-based school and met with staff, governors and children.
