BROMSGROVE entrepreneurs have pledged their support for a charity providing vital support to homeless young people.

Members of the Bromsgrove evening 4N group have nominated The Basement Project as their official charity for the next 12 months.

The project provides a drop in centre for homeless and potentially young people in the North Worcestershire area.

Based in Hanover Street, the centre is staffed by full time qualified youth workers with support from a team of trained volunteers.

Young people can call in at any time and receive support with a wide range of issues including money, health, unemployment, benefits, and alcohol and drug abuse.

The decision to support the charity was unanimous between the members of the group, which meets fortnightly at the Ladybird Inn.

John Moody, leader of the Bromsgrove 4N evening group, said: "We looked at several charities, but the Basement Project really stood out to us.

“Jackie Hooper, the project’s operations manager, visited our group and it is clear that fantastic work is being carried out for young people.

“They are individuals who, for all sorts of reasons, have found themselves down on their luck right now. However, with the right kind of support they can get back on their feet and back in the workplace. Who knows, we might one day be welcoming some of them to 4N business networking meetings.”
