A BROMSGROVE care home has been paying tribute to carers and staff through an awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony was held at St John's Court Nursing Home as part of National Carers Week, which aims to promote awareness for the work of people who care for others.

The St John Street-based home caters for 40 elderly and disabled residents, as well as those suffering from physical and mental disabilities, including dementia, Alzheimer’s and cancer.

Awards were presented to the staff and carers by Bromsgrove District Council's chairman Caroline Spencer, and after the event a visit was organised from Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid to had the chance to thank the carers.

Laura Wilkes, St John’s Court's manager, said the awards and MP visit was an excellent way to celebrate National Carer's Week, and the achievements of St John's Court carers.

Sajid Javid MP said: "It was a privilege to hear from residents about the fantastic job those who care for them are doing.

"It is important that we support and assist carers in all settings in what can be both such rewarding and difficult work physically and emotionally."
