RUBERY Social Club is to host a charity night showcase to raise money to help service heroes and their families.

The event, on July 10 from 8pm, will feature singers Dom Harris and Rubery-based Sophie Thompson, who were both finalists in this year's "Search for a Star" talent competition at The Austin Social Club in Longbridge.

Dom is soon to appear in West End musical "Lion King".

Also on stage at the Rubery show will be the Candy Dolls, who perform songs from the 1940s to present day and who come from the Bromsgrove, Rubery and Northfield areas.

Other acts include award-winning teenage singer Alesi Summer, from Birmingham.

Organiser Tony Maslen said: "I hope people will come and support this charity event for our lads and lasses of the Armed Forces.

"It promises a great night's entertainment that is not to be missed."

Proceeds will go to Help for Heroes and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen Families Association).

Tickets, costing £5 each, are available from Tony on 0121 457 9308, the club on 0121 453 2980 or by emailing a.maslen@blueyonder.co.uk
